Happy new year, crafty friends! I’ve always loved watching the new year celebration in Times Square and seeing all the colorful, dazzling confetti rain down on everyone. Dylusion’s bold and bright paint colors make it easy to bring that celebratory feeling to life right in your art journal! I hope it inspires you to create something fun to look forward to the year ahead.

Step 1: Open to a lined page in the Dylusions Large Ledger Journal. With the Black Marble paint pen, journal your thoughts and wishes for the new year.

Step 2: Using a mini blending tool, apply Dylusions Shimmer Paint in Tree Bark through the small Hexicomb stencil. Keep the stenciling focused on the sides of your page leaving the center unpainted.

Step 3: Apply dots of Dylusions Flip Cap Paint in Tropical Sangria to your page with the end of a paintbrush. Be sure to apply the most dots at the top and less as you go down.

Step 4: Repeat step 3 with Dylusions Flip Cap Paint in Mango Punch, Lemon Zest, Island Parrot, Blue Lagoon, Just Indigo, and Crushed Grape. Allow time for the paint to dry between colors.

Step 5: With Dylusions Flip Cap Paint in Black Marble, paint an approximately ½ inch border around the page.

Step 6: Trace the medium size Dylusions Jay silhouette onto your page with a pencil and color in the silhouette with Black Marble Paint.

Step 7: Using the White Linen paint pen, outline your silhouette to make it stand out.

Step 8: On a separate sheet of journal paper paint stripes of all seven colors you used to make the confetti dots.

Step 9: Using the Black Marble paint pen write out the quote “Throw confetti on the floor, sweep the old year out the door!” onto your stripes. With the small Coins stencil, trace 3 circles of each color as well.

Step 10: Cut out your quote and circles and ink the edges with Dylusions Archival Ink in Black Marble.

Step 11: Glue your quote and circles to your page and add Dylusions Designer Series Stickles in Stardust to the circles for some New Year’s sparkle!
