Distress Fourth of July Firecracker

Step 1: Lightly spritz a piece of Manila Cardstock measuring 5 x 5 ½”. Alternate lines of paint with Salty Ocean and Barn Door, leaving a little Manila Cardstock showing in between. Spritz the cardstock again, allowing the colors to wick. Heat set.
Step 2: Using Wonder Tape, wrap an empty toilet paper roll with the striped paper. Trim off any excess paper, other than enough to barely overlap in the back. Cut slits in the striped paper on the top and bottom so that it is easier to wrap over the ends of the toilet paper roll. Add glue to the inside of the toilet paper roll and glue the wrapped paper in place on the inside of the roll. Cut a piece of Styrofoam to fit inside of the toilet paper roll and insert it into the roll.
Step 3: Stamp 6 Mini Blueprint Stars onto a piece of Specialty Stamping Paper. Color them using either Salty Ocean or Barn Door Distress Ink that has been swiped onto a Non-Stick Craft Sheet. Pick up the color using a Detailer Water Brush and fill in the stars. Heat set.
Step 4: Ink over all of the stars with a clear Embossing Ink and cover with Clear UTEE. Remove the excess UTEE and heat set the stars. Then cut them out, ink the edges with a Black Soot Distress Marker.
Step 5: Cover either a Manila Tag or Cardstock with Brushed Pewter Distress Paint. I used a Crosshatch pattern; first streaking the paint in one direction and then the other. Heat set. Once dry, glue the stars onto the silver paper with the Collage Glue Stick and cut them out again, leaving a silver border around them. Punch 9 stars out of the remaining silver paper using a star punch. Add Stardust Stickles to all of the little punched stars. Let dry. Paint 6 Craft Sticks with a Silver Paint Dabber and let dry.
Step 6: Die cut a Mini Ticket out of Manila Cardstock. Distress it using Vintage Photo Ink. Use the flick and spritz method to mottle the ticket. Edge with Black Soot Distress Ink. Stamp two Statute of Liberties-one on the Mini Ticket; the other on a piece of Manila Cardstock. Then glue the Mini Ticket onto a piece of Manila Cardstock painted with Brushed Pewter Distress Stain and cut out around it, leaving a silver border. Color the other Statue of Liberty with the Detailer Water Brush and a little Bundled Sage that has been swiped onto the Non-Stick Craft Sheet. Heat set. Cut out the Statue of Liberty and attach it to the ticket with a Pop it Shape on top of the first Statue of Liberty. With still more Manila Cardstock that has been colored with Brushed Pewter Distress Stain, cut out the smaller Mini Rosette. Add regular tape to the backside of the Rosette for extra strength. Put it together with Glossy Accents. When set, edge the Rosette with Black Soot Distress Ink. Add a piece of Red Tinsel Twine behind the center for the Rosette. (I used Wonder Tape to hold it in place underneath). Place a Pop it Shape on top of the Rosette. Stack the center with the Red Tinsel Twine on top of the Pop it Shape. Stamp a “4” from the Valentines’ stamp “14” in the same Mini Blueprints 4 set. Color with Salty Ocean and Barn Door using the Water Brush. Add Stardust Stickles to the crosshatch areas. Let dry. Cut out around the “4” and color the border using Scattered Straw Distress Marker. Edge with a Black Soot Distress Marker. Glue the “4” in the center of the stacked Rosette.
Step 7: Assemble the Mini Ticket and add Stardust Stickles on top of the silver border around the Mini Ticket. Let dry. When dry, add two pieces of Wonder Tape to the body of the toilet paper roll where the Mini Ticket is to be placed and stick the Ticket in place.
Step 8: Assemble the stars by gluing them onto the Craft Sticks. Pop the punched and Stickled stars into the center of each of the stamped and colored stars. Color pieces of Tim’s Trimmings ribbon with Salty Ocean and Barn Door Distress Inks by dragging the ribbon between the ink pads and the Non-Stick Craft Sheet. Spritz with water, wad up to be sure the ribbon is colored and heat set. Cut into three pieces and tie around the Craft Sticks-red ribbon on blue stars, blue ribbon on red stars.
Step 9: Cover the top of the “firecracker” with Silver Tinsel Twine to hide the Styrofoam. Stick the star sticks into the Styrofoam.
