I love the crisp perfection of using Ranger's huge array of Embossing Powders on smooth cardstock, but recently I've been experimenting with textures and while they look completely different, I find them equally lovely. (It's always nice to have options, right?!)
Step 1: Gather Materials: Ranger Embossing Powders in Verdigris, Turquoise and Neon Green; Emboss It Clear Embossing Ink; Ranger Heat It Craft Tool; Archival Inks in Seafarer, Beach Cruiser and Olive; Ranger Distress Cracked Leather Cardstock; Ranger Woodgrain Cardstock; Dina Wakley Canvas Tape; Simon Hurley create Leaf Prints, Moroccan Tile and Sentimental Flowers Stamp Sets.
Â
Step 2: On an A2-sized panel of white Woodgrain Cardstock arrange the five solid leaf stamps from the Simon Hurley create Leaf Prints set on the extra large acrylic block so that the leaves cover most of the cardstock panel without overlapping. Alternatively, you can stamp and emboss each leaf separately.
Â
Step 3: Stamp the leaves with Clear Embossing Ink, sprinkle with Verdigris Embossing Powder, tap off the excess and use an Angled Brush to get rid of any stray flakes. Note that the ink and powder stick mostly to the raised parts of the textured cardstock, resulting in a slightly distressed look. Melt powder with the Heat It Craft Tool and allow the panel to cool completely before proceeding.
Â
Step 4: Stamp the rest of the leaves on top of the embossed panel using Clear Embossing Ink and Green Neon Embossing Powder, allowing these fern-like fronds to overlap the leaves from Step 3. Note that you may need to reposition and stamp the larger fronds a second time to cover the panel.
Â
Step 5: Trim a piece of White Distress Cracked Leather Cardstock to 6 x 8" and stamp Simon Hurley's Moroccan Tile Background in Clear Embossing Ink.
Â
Step 6: Sprinkle the stamped image with Turquoise Embossing Powder, tap off the excess and use the Heat It Craft Tool to melt the powder. Allow the panel to cool completely before proceeding.
Â
Step 7: Using a Mini Ink Blending Tool and a Domed Foam, apply Seafarer Archival Ink generously to the panel from Step 6. When the entire surface is covered, use an alcohol wipe to remove the excess ink from the embossed areas. Trim the panel down to 5.5 x 4.5" and set aside.
Â
Step 8: Trim a piece of Dina Wakley Sticky-Back Canvas Tape to about 8" long and secure the ends to the MAKE ART Stay-tion using the magnets to keep it from curling. Stamp with the Moroccan Tile Background and Clear Embossing Ink.
Â
Step 9: Sprinkle the stamped image with Turquoise Embossing Powder and use the Heat It Craft Tool to melt the powder. Set aside and allow the tape, magnets and Stay-tion to cool completely before handling.
Â
Step 10: On a scrap of White Perfect Cardstock, stamp, "Hello Friend" from the Simon Hurley create Sentimental Flowers Photopolymer stamp set in Beach Cruiser Archival Ink and trim into a neat flag.
Â
Step 11: Assembly: Trim the Moroccan Tile Panel to 5.5 x 6.5" and lightly ink the edges with Seafarer Archival. Affix to a skinny (1/8") mat of Brushed Silver Alcohol Ink Cardstock. Peel the backing off the embossed Canvas Tape and wrap around the panel, approximately 3/4" from the righthand edge. Lightly ink the edges of the leafy panel with Olive Archival, mat with Brushed Silver and adhere to the center of the Seafarer panel with foam tape. Mat the sentiment flag on a scrap of Brushed Silver Cardstock and add it to lower righthand edge of the leafy panel, as pictured. Create a 6 x 4.75" card from a piece of Simon Hurley create Stark White Cardstock and affix the completed design panel using Perfect Card Adhesive.
Â
Step 12: Decorate the flap of an A6 envelope with the Leaf Prints stamps, write a message inside your card, and mail it ASAP to a friend or relative... it's bound to make their day!
