Instructions

Hi crafty friends! Today I'm showing you a card I made using the amazing Sketched Bouquet Background Stamp with some heat embossing and using the Simon Hurley Inks as watercolor. I am totally obsessed with gold embossing. I just love how it shines. So enough said and let’s jump over to the step-by-step tutorial.

Shiny Watercolor Background Step 1

Step 1: Let's begin by stamping the background on a piece of Ranger watercolor cardstock using Ranger Embossing Ink. Don’t forget to use the Anti-Static-Pouch before stamping, that way you will just have the embossing powder on the stamped image. You need to stamp the image at least two or three times, as the watercolor paper has some structure and to get a very crisp image you need to stamp it more times.

Now you can sprinkle the gold embossing powder over it and heat emboss it using your Ranger Heat Tool.

Shiny Watercolor Background Step 2

Step 2:   After that, it’s time to color the image using four different Simon Hurley Inks. I used Guppy, Crown Me, Prom Queen and Remember Me. Just smoosh the ink onto your Tim Holtz glass mat and spray it with some water. Use a brush to color the image, I used one of the Ranger Artist Brushes. As the image is heat embossed it’s super easy to watercolor, because the color will resist the embossed part.

Shiny Watercolor Background Step 3

Step 3: Now that everything is colored, you need a nice sentiment. I used one from the Doddle Floral set “You make me Smile.“ As the image is quite busy just keep it simple, but also don’t cover it too much, that’s why it’s perfect to use some vellum.

Shiny Watercolor Background Step 4

Step 4: Cut a strip from a piece of vellum a bit wider than your card panel. Use an acrylic block to stamp your sentiment on the vellum piece using the Ranger Embossing Ink and of course don’t forget to use the Anti-Static-Pouch. Also turn on your Ranger Heat Tool, that way it will be hot enough to heat emboss the sentiment. If you turn heat too long on vellum it will warp.

Shiny Watercolor Background Step 5

Step 5: Now, use some Wendy Vecchi Perfect Adhesive to adhere the vellum piece. A good tip is to cut the piece wider than the panel and you can just fold the vellum overlap behind, adding the glue on the back. That way no one will see any glue on the front side.

Shiny Watercolor Background Step 6

Step 6: Last but not least, cut down a piece of teal cardstock a bit bigger then your flower panel just to leave a small border on the sides.

And that’s it my crafty friends, now you have a shiny flower card you can send to a wonderful friend.

Thanks again for stopping by and wish you all the best. Stay safe and healthy.
