Instructions

Hi there! It’s Cheiron Brandon and I am back with another fun tutorial using Tim Holtz Distress products. This month I am creating some mini tags using a monoprint technique with stencils and Distress Spray Stains to make a set of colorful holiday tags.

Step 1: Take your stencil and spray it with Distress Spray stain and about 2-3 sprays of water. Be aware when using stencils with numbers or letters you will want to ink the back side of the stencil so the letters come out in the right direction.

Step 2: Flip your stencil over onto a tag cut from Distress Watercolor Cardstock.

Step 3: Press a paper towel onto the stencil into the paper. The paper towel will absorb the excess ink. The longer you press down the more the ink will absorb into the paper and the clearer your image will be.

Step 4: Repeat steps with remaining colors

Step 5: Let tags dry or dry with heat tool.

Step 6: Ink edges of tags with Black Soot Distress Ink.

Step 7: Add stitching around edges of tags if desired.

Step 8: Spray tags with Antique Linen Distress Spritz. Let dry or dry with heat tool.

Step 9: Splatter tags with Black Soot Distress Paint. Let dry or dry with heat tool.

Step 10: Stamp the sentiments in a coordinating color of Distress Oxide, cut out, ink the edges and adhere to the tags. Add coordinating cardstock color reinforcer to each tag.

Step 11: Add twine to the tag. Now they are ready for all your holiday giftgiving!

I love the look of these monoprints. I hope you have fun trying them out for yourself. Wishing you all the happiest of holidays!
