Whether or not you're returning to the classroom in September, a few new school supplies can help you feel inspired and ready to tackle a new season. Follow along as Lauren Bergold uses Wendy Vecchi Stamps, Archival Inks and Washi Tape Assortments to transform an inexpensive composition book into a custom journal.

Instructions

As a kid, there was nothing I loved more than shopping for school supplies in August; but as it turns out, it's even more fun to use my Wendy Vecchi stamps, inks and tapes to create a one-of-a-kind notebook!

Step 1: Gather materials: Wendy Vecchi's MAKE ART Bravo Stamp, Die and Stencil Set; Archival Inks in Sunflower, Buttercup, Goldenrod and Red Geranium; Wendy's Washi Tape Assortments One and Two; Simon Hurley create Stark White Cardstock; and a composition book from the big box office supply store.

Step 2: Trim a piece of Simon Hurley create Stark White Cardstock to fit the front of your composition book (in this case 6.5 x 9.75") but be sure to save the offcut. Smoosh Buttercup Archival Ink onto the Stay-tion's Craft Sheet and use a Ranger Mister to spray it with Isopropyl Alcohol. Place the cardstock face down to pick up the wet ink. Repeat several times, until the entire piece of cardstock is tinted to the desired intensity, then allow to dry. Use a Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool and a Domed Foam to add a bit of Sunflower Archival around the edges.

Step 3: Stamp the large flower from Wendy Vecchi's Bravo Stamp, Die and Stencil Set in Goldenrod Archival repeatedly across the top of the panel, and cascading down the lefthand side. Change the orientation of the stamp each time and allow some of the images to go off the edge. Use an Ink Blending Tool and Domed Foam to add a bit of Sunflower Archival to the center of each flower.

Step 4: Use the tiny trio of hearts from Wendy Vecchi's Doodle Town stamp set to add pops of Red Geranium Archival between the golden flowers. Round the righthand corners of the panel, if desired, and set aside.

Step 5: Retrieve the discarded piece of Stark White Cardstock from Step 2 and cover it with strips of tape from Wendy's Washi Assortments. Use the grid on the Stay-tion to help line the strips up evenly. Wrap the ends of the tapes around to the back of the cardstock.

Step 6: Assemble: Adhere the floral panel to the front of the composition book using Wendy Vecchi's Perfect Card Adhesive. Affix the washi accent strip approximately 3/4" from the lefthand side of the floral panel.

Step 7: Use the same Washi Assortments to make a matching bookmark! Cover a 1.75 x 6.75" strip of Stark White Cardstock with tape strips and mat it on a piece of Alcohol Ink Black Cardstock. Punch a hole at the top and thread with baker's twine. To create a coordinating pencil, add strips of the same tapes to the top 2-3" of a pencil. Present this customized set to your favorite student... or... keep it for yourself!
