Instructions 

In addition to celebrating our friends' and family's big milestones, it's nice to have a little stash of all-occasion cards to send "just because". Whenever I can't decide what colors to choose, I use the entire spectrum!

Step 1: Gather materials: Ranger Archival Inks in Vibrant Fuchsia, Coastal Coral, Sun Dazed, Sea Grass, Beach Cruiser, Aubergine, Emerald Green and Wine Cellar; Stickles Glitter Glue in Hibiscus, Orange Slice, Sunburst, Seafoam and Waterfall. Simon Hurley create Backsplash stencil; Simon Hurley Butterfly Kisses clear stamp set.

Step 2: Place the Backsplash stencil at a slight angle over a 5.5" square of Simon Hurley create. Stark White Cardstock. Use the magnets from the Wendy Vecchi MAKE ART Stay-tion to secure the stencil firmly over the paper. Using a Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool and Domed Foams, begin at the top of the panel and apply one shade of Archival Ink to each section of the stencil. Work in spectrum order (ROYGBIV is a helpful acronym for remembering Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet) and allow the colors to overlap a bit to create even more shades. Start with Vibrant Fuchsia blending into Coastal Coral, followed by Sun Dazed.

Step 3: Continue the spectrum stenciling with strips of Seagrass Archival, Beach Cruiser and Aubergine; finally returning to Vibrant Fuchsia again at the bottom.

Step 4: Trim the completed rainbow panel down to 4.5 x 5.25" and fill each of the .25" round spaces in the stencil pattern with a coordinating shade of Stickles Glitter Glue. Starting from the top of the panel, layer Orange Slice over the pinky-orange dots; Sunburst on the yellowy-green dots; Waterfall over the bluish dots and finally on the purpley-pink section use Hibiscus. Before beginning, make sure to shake each shade of Stickles well and invert the bottles so that there are no air bubbles. Hold the bottle at about a 45° angle and squeeze continuously so that a domed circle is dispensed. Use slightly more Stickles than you need to fill the circle spots, as the dots will shrink up a little bit as they dry. If you are nervous about applying the Stickles directly to your card, use the Ranger Stickles and Liquid Pearls Template that is available here https://www.rangerindu.com/blogs/projects/stickles-confetti When finished, place the panel (or the template) on a flat surface to dry completely; ideally overnight.

Step 5: From Simon Hurley's Butterfly Kisses set, stamp the large solid butterfly in Seagrass Archival on a scrap of white cardstock, and the small solid butterfly in Fuchsia.

Step 6: Stamp the outlined butterflies atop the solid butterflies from Step 5, using Emerald Green Archival Ink on the seagrass butterfly; and Wine Cellar Archival on the Fuchsia butterfly. Cut out using the coordinating dies or your favorite scissors.

Step 7: Use a Ranger Angled Brush to apply similar shades of Stickles to the butterflies from Step 6. Apply Seafoam Stickles over the green butterfly and Hibiscus over the pink butterfly. Set aside and allow the butterflies to dry completely.

Step 8: Using Graphite Archival Ink and the "Fluttering By to Say Hi" sentiment stamp from the Butterfly Kisses set, stamp the sentiment at slight angle at towards the top of a 5.5" square piece of Simon Hurley Stark White Cardstock. (Note that this panel is larger than necessary, to help with placement when adding the rainbow panel to the card.)

Step 9: When the Stickles dots on the rainbow panel have dried completely to the touch, trim a half-inch gap between the stripe with orange dots and stripe with yellow dots at the top of the panel. This will allow you to place the design above and below the slanted sentiment on the oversized panel from Step 8.

Step 10: Assembly: Lightly ink the edges of the split rainbow panel with Graphite Archival Ink, if desired. Add the split panel to the sentiment panel as pictured; then trim the sentiment panel to just slightly larger than the rainbow panel. Layer onto a 5.5 x 5' white card and add the butterflies on small slivers of Foam Roll Tape. Sign your finished card and send it to someone who could use a little extra color and sparkle right now!
