Dimensional Pop-Up Art Journal Page by Josephine Fourage

Hi everyone and welcome to a new Ranger tutorial using Dylusions products. My name is Josefine and today I am sharing an idea on how to create some dimension in your art journal.

Step 1: Do you have extra pages laying around from your Dylusions Creative Journals? I do. A lot. So, I was thinking about what I could do with them. Of course, you can add them to your journals as normal pages, but I wanted something more dimensional. That’s why I used one of the black pages and cut it in half.

Step 2: Then I scored a few fold lines, all 1 ½ inches apart from each other. Because I picked the black paper, I wanted to make sure that the paint is really bright against it. So, I went with Lemon Zest, Squeezed Orange and Bubblegum Pink. For the first layer, I used a baby wipe and applied just a little paint all over the paper. I let that sit for a little bit and then added a second layer, so the color shines even stronger.

Step 3: To add a few patterns, I used the small stencils Snowflake, Sugar Lump and Giraffe and sprayed Dylusions Sprays in Squeezed Orange, Cherry Pie and Pomegranate Seed through them.

Step 4: I thought that the snowflakes need to shine and sparkle, so I added a few of them using the Shimmer Spray in Bubblegum Pink.

Step 5: To tone down the orange and pink theme a little, I used white splatters by thinning down White Line with some water and then flicking it all over the page.

Step 6: I didn’t want to waste the paint and the scene had an eerie feel to it already. That’s why I decided to use the tentacle from the Flight of Fancy stamp set, brayered the leftover paint onto the stamp and added a few tentacles all over the paper.

Step 7: Time to adhere it to an art journal page. In my case, I used the Blank Dylusions Dyalog and a page that already had the Brickwall Border stamped onto it. I folded the two parts on the side backwards and adhered them to the border of the pages, so it ended exactly where the page ended. And yes, your hands might look just like that when you’re done

Step 8: To pull everything together, I decorated the page itself with some washi tape, doodles and a few more stamps of the tentacles. To support the dimensional part of the page, I also adhered one of the Die-Cuts to the folded piece.

Step 9: Here you can see how it looks like when you stand the journal up. It looks a little like those pop-up books.

I hope you enjoyed my art journal page and feel inspired to use those extra pages. Thanks for stopping by!
