Having fun and creating secret doors and pockets can be a unique and playful way to work in your art journals. Here we did both and created some fun features to add a little something extra to your practice in the Dina Wakley 6x6 journal.
Step 1: Fold two pages in toward the seam of your book, creating “doors” with a bone folder along the edges.
Step 2: Using the Tiny Attacher, staple two times on each of the inner folds to the pages behind it, at both the tops and bottoms. This will create your “pockets.
Step 3: Paint the inner folds with Black Gesso to create a “night sky” background.
Step 4: Stamp all your images out onto white cardstock using Archival Ink Jet Black. Cut out.
Step 5: Stencil some flowers along the top fronts of your “door” pages.
Step 6: Glue your focal images down onto your door pages using Ultra Thick Gel Medium and add some doodles to your flowers.
Step 7: Stencil your Moon Masks onto the center of your black sky using White Gesso and Elephant Acrylic Paint.
Step 8: Add some more focal images to your flaps and glue them down. Finish off with some white paint splatters (or pox, as Dina likes to call them) onto your sky to create a starry sky.
Step 9: Fill up your pockets with extra tags or collage bits to have on hand for more spreads as you go!
