Dina Wakley Media Grid Journal Page by Claire Stead

Check out Claire Stead's tutorial on creating a grid journal page with the latest Dina Wakley Media products! Follow along as she guides you through the magical process of layering, contrast, and color exploration to create this inspiring project.

Instructions

In this tutorial, explore creating a journal page with a grid by starting with a large piece of paper and reducing it down. Explore layering, contrast and colors with this project!

Step 1: Using a sheet of heavy weight watercolor paper and gloss colors, I used Orchid and Peacock, add some color to the background.

Step 2: Next, spray some Tangelo through the Dotted Tape stencil. Use the gloss left on the stencil to print onto the paper.

Step 3: It’s time for some neon! Using Stoked gloss and the Varied stencil, paint gloss through the stencil.

Step 4: Use the white gloss to add some splatters to the page too.

Step 5: Using the Jumbled Letters collage paper, add pieces of text onto the page using gel medium to stick it to the page.

Step 6: Cut the page into 6 squares that are 6cm x 6cm and arrange them onto the page in a grid pattern. You can also edge the squares with black Archival Ink too if you wish.

Step 7: Next, using the Sticks With Leaves stamp and black Archival Ink, stamp onto white printer paper, cut them out and stick them to the page. Think about the placement, imagine a triangle and place the stamped images on the page at the points of the triangle.

Step 8: Add small white circles onto your page with a white gel pen. Outline them with a black gel pen.

Step 9: Finally add a quote from the Typed Ledgers. Add some splatters with your choice of Dina Wakley Glosses.

Creating an art journal page like this is such a great way to play with layers and space. Adding in focal points with stamped images makes a fun twist too.
