Instructions
Hi everyone, Bobbi here. I’m so happy to be with you today! I thought I would share a fun dimensional “Smile” card tutorial with you, featuring Distress Crayons.
Step 1: Die cut several fun accessory items from the Cool Yule Thinlits Set using Distress Mixed Media Heavystock. Then adhere them to a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 sheet of Distress Mixed Media Heavystock using Distress Collage Medium Matte. After dried, paint a thin layer of Dina Wakley Media White Gesso over entire surface. Let dry.
Step 2: Apply a thin layer of Distress Collage Medium Matte to entire collaged surface and let dry throughly. Gather several bold colors of Distress Crayons. Apply Distress Crayon to collaged surface lightest to darkest in color. Smudge the color into all the nooks and crannies. Then wipe away the excess color on the raised surface of the various shapes, using a clean towel. You could also use a very dry baby wipe as well.
Step 3: Now select complementing colors of Distress Crayons. Swipe the various color onto the Non-Stick Craft Sheet. Then pick up color with finger and apply to clean raised surface. Swipe a little Black Soot Distress Crayon onto the Non-Stick Craft Sheet. Then pick up with finger and apply very sparingly (a little goes a long way) to portions of raised surface to add shading.
Step 4: Swipe some Brushed Pewter Distress Crayon onto the Non-Stick Craft Sheet. Pick up with finger and apply to portions of raised surface for just the right amount of shimmer to your card.
Step 5: Now take a piece of Distress Watercolor Cardstock and ombre with Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide swirling color on using blending tools. Only concentrating color on bottom portion of card panel. Then spritz card panel with large droplets of water from Distress Sprayer. Then dry with Heat Tool. To add a little distress, splatter a little Pumice Stone Distress Spray Stain by unscrewing the spray nozzle and flicking color onto panel. Then dry with Heat Tool.
Step 6: Die cut a couple of accent strips from black classic kraft using the smaller border from Stitched Rectangles Thinlits Set. Die cut the top layer of the “smile” shadow script 2 using black classic kraft. Then die cut the shadow portion of “smile” using some silver metallic kraft. On a piece of scrap paper sand the accent strips and “smile” to expose a little of the underlying kraft. Then assemble the wording and black accent strips to colored collage using Distress Collage Medium Matte. Then tie off a bow with a little craft thread.
Step 7: Assemble an A2 kraft card base with the silver metallic kraft panel and ombre panel, using Distress Collage Medium Matte. Then attach the collaged panel with Letter It Black Adhesive Foam. “Smile” is attached with Letter It Clear 3D Adhesive Foam. Last but not least, select a phrase from Tim Holtz idea-ology Small Talk Stickers that go nicely with sentiment.
There you go, that should just about make anybody’s day receiving such a happy card! Hope you had fun!
