Step 1: Paint Framed Panel with Villainous Potion Distress Paint. Once dry, use a Distress Embossing Pen to add embossing ink to one side of the frame. On a sheet of scrap paper, pour Distress Glaze Villainous Potion over the ink. Tap off excess crystals and emboss with an embossing gun until shiny (do not over emboss the glaze). Repeat on the remaining three sides of the frame.
Step 2: Choose a paper from the Backdrops Halloween pack. Cut paper slightly larger than the inside of the frame. Pounce Distress Oxide Crushed Olive on Craft Sheet. Spritz oxide with water, then press parts of the paper into the ink. Dry with Heat-it Tool, whilst dabbing with a towel to sop up excess ink.
Step 3: Repeat the steps with Villainous Potion Distress Oxide, to add a diagonal pattern of color across the paper.
Step 4: Use Collage Medium and a Collage Brush to adhere paper to the back of the Panel. Add a good amount of Collage Medium to the back of the frame and place over panel. Press down, wiping away any excess Collage Medium. Set aside to dry. NOTE: I use blue painter's tape to hold the frame and panel together while drying. Just keep the tape on the wood frame and panel, not on the paper.
Step 5: Choose a Found Relative from the pack. I chose one that had a lot of background. I wanted to make his suit darker so I scribbled it with Black Suit Distress Crayon.
Step 6: Rub the crayon with a slightly damp finger, until the details appear again. Remove the crayon that has been pushed outside the lines of the suit with a damp cotton swab. It comes off vey easy with the damp cotton swap so there should never be a worry when you go over things like faces, hands, shirts, etc.
Step 7: The background needs to be lightly sanded for the next technique. I sanded around the man…really any place I was going to add ink. Do not skip this step.
Step 8: Pounce Villainous Potion Distress Oxide onto the Craft Sheet. Add a puddle of water to the Craft Sheet - separate from the ink. Pick up Oxide Ink with a Detailer Water Brush and then dip into the water puddle. Start with a wash of color over the background.
Step 9: Color the entire background, then dry with a Heat-it Tool. Repeat the paint/dry process two or three times, building the layers as you go.
Step 10: Cut or tear a post-it note to create a mask.
Step 11: Pounce Salvaged Patina Oxide onto Craft Sheet. Spray ink with water. Pick up with Detailer Water Brush and flick onto the surface of the card by tapping the Water Brush on the index finger of your left hand (if you are right handed).
Step 12: Dry with Heat-it Tool. Press a paper towel over the card to sop up any excess ink.
Step 13: Add a mask from the Sticker Book Halloween (I love these masks!).
Step 14: Cut a black Cardstock mat for the Found Relative so he will stand out from the background. Add 3D foam squares to the back.
Step 15: Use Ground Espresso Distress ink to color some string. Pounce the Distress Ink onto the Craft Sheet. Spritz with water and rub the string around in the mix, leaving variations of color. You can rub the ink pad directly on the string to get some very dark spots. Dry with Heat-it Tool.
Step 16: Choose a few ephemera pieces from the Layers pack, like the butterfly and script paper. Lay the Found Relative over the script paper and tie the string around the two layered pieces. Add a number to the butterfly and word strip to the top of the card, both from the Halloween Sticker Book.
Step 17: Adhere the collage to the center of the Framed Panel with the foam squares added earlier. Add some cheesecloth to the collage and place the butterfly on top. NOTE: There is a stack of two foam squares hidden under the right wing of the butterfly, securing it to the collage.
Step 18: Slowly press down on the nozzle to spritz Villainous Potion Distress Oxide Spray over the poison label (also from the Layers pack). Dry with a Heat-it Tool, dabbing off any excess ink.
Step 19: Add two 3D foam squares to the back of the poison label and slip it under the Found relative on the right side.
Step 20: Squeeze a little Media Acrylic Paint in Ancient onto the Craft Sheet. Use your fingertip to pick up the paint and wipe it along the raised portion of the Framed Panel. Let dry.
