Hello there, crafty friends. It’s Cheiron Brandon back with another tutorial for you. This month I am thrilled to share a project with a brand new product that I have been loving, the new Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Pencils. Today I am going to share a fun project with you that allows us to create with these pencils in a multitude of ways. We will create a trio of ATCs with coloring, outlining, mark making, and splattering with the Distress Watercolor Pencils.
Step 1: Gather up your supplies. You will want a set (or perhaps all 3) of Distress Watercolor Pencils, some Distress Watercolor Cardstock, and some stamps with a bold sentiment.
Step 2: Cut Distress Watercolor cardstock two 2 ½ x 3 ½ (ATC size) and gather up a few colors of Distress Ink. I used Fossilized Amber, Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade.
Step 3: Press your inks down onto a Non-Stick Craft Sheet and spray with water. When you see little droplets in the ink, you are ready to ink your papers.
Step 4: Press your paper down into the ink and lift up. (Don’t move it back and forth, or else you will blend all the colors together)
Step 5: Dry with Heat Tool, adding water using a Distress Sprayer to move the color around. Continue to dry until paper is dried fully.
Step 6: Gather the Bold Text stamp and Distress Archival Inks in Fossilized Amber, Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade.
Step 6a: Turn over the stamp and ink up, leaving some parts uninked.
Step 6b: Press your inked Distress Watercolor Panel Into it.
Step 7: Ink the edges of the stamped papers with Black Soot Distress Ink.
Step 8: Stamp sentiment and butterfly images. Color in with pencils. For the sentiments, trace the sharpened tip of the pencil along one side of the sentiment. Go over images and traced letters with waterbrush to blend.
Step 9: Cut out sentiment and butterflies. Ink edges of sentiment.
Step 10: Use Distress Watercolor Pencils to add marks and texture to cards.
Step 11: Add some water to glass mat, dip end of Black Soot pencil into it and move around. Use a paint brush to splatter it onto the ATCs avoiding the sentiments. Let dry.
