Hello crafty friends! Today, I would like to share with you a very fun card I made using stamps from Simon Hurley Create. Putting all these pieces together to make this scene card made me feel like I was an interior designer or something! I hope you enjoy this tutorial as much as I did!
Step 1: Create an A2 card base out of Stark White Cardstock. Cut the 8½ x 11 cardstock down to 4¼ x 11. Then score at 5½. From the remaining extra 4¼ x 11 piece, cut a in half (at 5½) to make a front panel piece measuring 4¼ x 5½. Then trim a long side and a short side of this piece down another ¼ or so (should be around 4 x 5¼). You can use the long side trim piece in Step 2.
Step 2: On the front panel piece, glue the longest of the two trimmed pieces – serving as the ‘base board’ of our room – with Wendy Vecchi Perfect Card Adhesive.
Step 3: Use low tack tape to cover the upper side of the ‘base board’ trim and ink the lower part with Cookie Dough and Grrr! ink pads with the Mini Ink Blending Tool. This part should start looking like the floor of a room.
Step 4: Next, place the Stamping Foam Circle on the 5x7 Dina Wakley Media Stamping Block using painter's tape to make it secure. Then place the floral image from the Lovely Lantanas stamp set on Simon Hurley’s 5x6 Acrylic Stamping Block. At this point, heat the foam with the Heat It Craft Tool. Once the foam is warm, make an impression with the floral stamp.
Step 5: Once you have the impression on the Stamping Foam, use small blending brushes to color the foam using the Viper, Minty Fresh, Game Over, and Crown Me ink pads.
Step 6: After inking the Stamping Foam, spray some water using the Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer and stamp the image on the inked front panel piece.
Step 7: Peel one of the stripes from the Pinstripe background stamp and place it on Simon Hurley’s 5x6 acrylic stamping block, and ink it with Breakup Blue ink. Then stamp the stripes next to the circle image created in Step 5. Stamp multiple times to cover any white parts. This will make it look like wallpaper on a wall.
Step 8: On a separate piece of Stark White Cardstock, stamp images from the Welcome Home stamp set using Watering Can and Leaf Green Archival Inks. Then heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Use Ranger Artist Brushes (#2) to color the books and plant vase images with Love Struck, Remember Me, Cookie Dough, and Breakup Blue inks.
Step 9: Next, on a separate piece of Stark White Cardstock, stamp the couch image from the Welcome Home stamp set using Watering Can Archival Ink. Then heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Next, use Ranger Artist Brushes (#4) to color the couch image with Minty Fresh, Tropical Tango, and Weeping Willow inks.
Step 10: On a separate piece of Stark White Cardstock, stamp the coffee table image from the Welcome Home stamp set using Vintage Photo Archival Ink. Then heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Next, use Ranger Artist Brushes (#2 & #4) to color the table with Weeping Willow, Triple Berry, Crown Me, and Viper inks.
Step 11: For the fun part of the tutorial, begin assembling your colored images on your front panel. Cut the coffee table in half to make it look like end tables.
Step 12: Add adhesive foam to the couch, books, and vase images. Then use Wendy Vecchi Perfect Card Adhesive to glue the end tables on the opposite side of the front panel. Glue front panel on the card base using Wendy Vecchi Perfect Card Adhesive.
Step 13: Use the Minty Fresh ink to blend some color on a piece of scrap cardstock. Then heat emboss a sentiment from the Bold Bouquet stamp set with Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder.
Step 14: Trim the embossed sentiment piece, place some foam adhesive on the back, and tape it to the front panel of the card.
Step 15: Add some Glossy Accents on the vase, Brass Liquid Pearls on the couch, and some Platinum Stickels on the foam stamped image to add extra shine to the card.
Step 16: Pair the card with a colorful envelope and it is ready to be mailed to a loved one to remind them you’re thinking of them.
