Whatever You Have to Say Journal Spread by Milagros Rivera

Milagros Rivera shares how she created this fun, summer-color inspired art journal spread in a Dylusions Flip Journal by using Dylusions Ink Sprays and Paints.

 Instructions

I’ve been playing regularly with stencils and it just occurred to me to use it in reverse. Since I don’t have a multi-sized dot mask, I used Dyan’s stencil to block my work. I truly loved the end result specially since her paint has a translucent quality that doesn’t totally block all my work. Let me show you how!

Whatever You Have to Say Journal Spread Step 1

Step 1: To make a flowery background I find it’s easier to put all of the stamps on the Journaling Block like a puzzle and ink them at the same time. You can rotate the position of the stamp to cover the whole page.

Step 2: Working in the Large Flip Journal, ink the stamps with Jet Black Archival and then stamp the images vertically, re-ink the stamp and then stamp them horizontally.

Step 3: Color in all the stamped flowers with Dylusions Ink Sprays. I tend to use the inks like I would watercolor. That means I will open the bottles and insert my brush and paint.

Step 4: Once the flower/leaves are to your liking take the stencil and outline the circles with a pencil.

Step 5: Decide whether you would like to block the outside with black( I used Dina’s paint) or the translucency of Dyan’s paint for your background. I went with Dyan’s Island Parrot

Step 6: I stamped the house on white cardstock three times. I wanted to create a contrast that would showcase the work underneath while giving me a focal so I chose to paint the roof with black.

Step 7: Then it’s a matter of details! I outlined the circles with the marker and finished with words!

Have fun and show me yours!
