Colorize Floral Valentine Card By Cheiron Brandon

Create a vintage inspired Valentine's Day card with this tutorial by Cheiron Brandon. Follow along using Tim Holtz Distress® Spray Stains and Sizzix dies to piece together this card just for the upcoming holiday.

Instructions

Hi there crafty friends! It’s Cheiron Brandon here and today I am sharing a vintage inspired Valentine with you using tons of Distress, one of the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Colorize dies, and 3-D Impresslits and one of my very first Tim Holtz stamps sets!

Colorize Floral Valentine Card Step 1

Step 1: To create this card you will need the Bloom Colorize dies, Lucky Love Impresslits, and the Love Struck stamp set. If you have not used Colorize dies before, they are designed to have different layers of color and the dies tell you what layer they are. So, on the Bloom dies there are 5 Flower dies (Flower Pink 1, Flower Pink 2, etc).

Step 2: To begin, cut all the dies out of Distress Watercolor Cardstock. Cut 2 of the Flowers. Then I used Distress Spray Stains in Tattered Rose, Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, Candied Apple, Bundled Sage, Rustic Wilderness, Cracked Pistachio, Antique Linen

Step 3: Separate the pieces and then spray them all inside a splat box, then set them aside to let them air dry.

Step 4: Let the pieces air dry on the glass mat rather than drying them with a heat tool, because I feel like they have a more hand painted look this way.

Step 5: Next, cut a piece of Distress Watercolor cardstock cut to 4 ½ x 6 ½ and stamp the sentiment using Distress Archival Black Soot Ink. Ink the center of the card with Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink in the center of the panel to give it a vintage vibe.

Step 6: Now it’s time to create the heart. Die cut the heart from Distress Watercolor Cardstock and use a Distress Embossing pen to color in just the big heart in the center. Then I use Gold Embossing powder over the colored part.

Step 7: Use some of the Spun Sugar Distress Spray Stain on the outside. Next, dip a small paintbrush into the Picked Raspberry Distress Stain to highlight the flowers in the center.

Step 8: When the die cut Blooms dry, adhere them together with Distress Collage Medium and ink the edges with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.

Colorize Floral Valentine Card Step 9

Step 9: Now we are ready to assemble, but I thought the panel could use some more distressing, so add some Antique Linen Distress Ink to the outside of the panel.

Colorize Floral Valentine Card Step 10

Step 10: For one final finishing touch to the panel, add a quick mist of Distress Mica Spray in Tarnished Brass being careful not to go over the sentiment too much.

Colorize Floral Valentine Card Step 11

Step 11: To complete the card, add the panel to a mat of Gold Metallic Paper, and then to a light pink card base. Hope you enjoyed this tutorial…wishing you all a wonderful Valentine’s Day, full of all things sweet!
