Instructions
Hello crafty friends! Mother’s Day is around the corner, so I’ve begun to make some lovely cards for the moms in my life. For today’s card I used Simon Hurley’s Supermom! stamp set. This is such a fun set, and my inspiration for this card came from my husband who grew up reading superhero comic books. I hope this tutorial gives you some inspiration to do something fun and creative!
Step 1: Create a slimline card base out of Stark White Cardstock. Trim the card stock at 7 x 8 ½ and score it at 3 ½. Next, trim another piece measuring 3 ¼ x 8 ¼. This will be used for the front panel of the card.
Step 2: On the front panel piece, use the Crown Me, No Diving, and Breakup Blue ink pads to create an inked blended background.
Step 3: Next, use the Deco Diamond stencil with the Shady ink pad on the front panel piece.
Step 4: Once the ink has dried, splatter some gold watercolor onto the inked background.
Step 5: Use one of the small square nested dies to die cut three squares.
Step 6: On the die cut pieces, stamp one image on each square from the Supermom! stamp set with Jet Black archival ink. Then heat emboss with clear embossing powder.
Step 7: To color the super mom image use Grrr! & Weeping Willow inks for the hair, Cookie Dough, Piggyback, and Love Struck for the face, and Midnight Snack, Game Over, and gold watercolor for the outfit.
Step 8: To color the “WOW!” sentiment, use Bee Sting and Slippery When Wet.
Step 9: To color the boy, use Cookie Dough for the skin, Grrr! And Weeping Willow for the hair and Bee Sting and No Diving for the outfit.
Step 10: Stamp the same images from step 6 on masking paper and cut them out to mask the stamped images on the square die cuts. Then use the Scene Maker stencil to add some clouds to each square using some white pigment ink. Then splatter some gold watercolor.
Step 11: On a separate piece of Stark White Cardstock, stamp and heat emboss two sentiments from the Supermom! stamp set. Then trim each sentiment.
Step 12: Adhere the front panel piece to the card base with some Wendy Vecchi MAKE ART Perfect Card Adhesive. Then use foam tape to tape the square die cuts and sentiments onto the card base. Now just pair the card with a colorful envelope and it is ready to send to your mom or that lovely someone who is special in your life.
