Hi there, crafty friends, it’s Cheiron here and today I am going to show you how to create a fun and shimmery card using Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Perfect Pearls and a Perfect Pearl Mister along with some of the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Colorize dies. These dies look best with different shades of each color, and today, I am going to create my own colored papers for a watercolor look.
Step 1: We are going to create 3 different colored ornaments, each with 3 different layers of color. First, choose Distress Inks in palettes of pinks, greens, and blues.
Step 2: If you haven’t used Colorize dies before each set of dies is etched with a series of numbers to help you assemble them. For example, they are labeled ‘Red 1, Red2, and Red 3 for the first ornament’. You can make them whatever color you like, but just check to see how many different shades of that color you need. For this project, the red and blue need 3 different shades (since there are 3 dies for each of these ornaments), and the green will need 4.
Step 3: Cut Distress Watercolor cardstock to 2 ¼ X 4 ¼ pieces and swipe these pieces through the inks. Create the different color papers to get the shades you need for each color. Put the Distress Ink colors out onto a Non-Stick Craft Sheet or palette and spray with a mist of Pearl Perfect Pearls and water to get some extra shine.
Step 4: Let them dry or dry with a heat tool and swipe them again if you wish to build up the layers.
Step 5: Once all of your papers are dry, use a die cut machine to cut out the ornaments and assemble them. Die cut the hangers from Tim Holtz Metallic Paper Stash.
Step 6: Ink the Plaid Background from the Lumberjack stamp set with Pumice Stone Distress Ink. Use a baby wipe or cloth to remove some of the ink on the stamp before stamping to give it a weathered look. Stamp the entire background of a 4 ¾ x 6 ¾ panel and ink the edges with the Pumice Stone ink using a Mini Ink Blending Tool with Foam.
Step 7: Die cut some pine branches from the Large Funky Festive dies using the remaining inked papers. Arrange the pine, ornaments and hangers onto the plaid inked panel and adhere them with Multi Medium. Stamp the greeting from the Seasonal Scribbles set.
Step 8: Mat the panel onto a black panel, then a blue panel from the Tim Holtz Kraft Stock Paper Stash that has been lightly sanded.
