Embossing powder adds such a nice dimension and shine to any card. Let me show you how I used Ranger Embossing powders and Ranger Cottontail Embossing Powder to make these adorable birthday cards. You will even see how I covered up a part of the embossed image where I missed some ink.
Step 1: Ink up Simon Hurley create. Candles Background stamp with Ranger Graphite Archival ink. Place a Wendy Vecchi Card base over the stamp and press evenly. Do this again for a second card.
Step 2: Ink up the Simon Hurley create. Fading Lines stamp with Ranger Emboss It ink and press a 4 ¼” x 5 ½ “ piece of Tim Holtz White Heavystock over the stamp making sure to press evenly over the whole panel.
Step 3: Pour Ranger Love Letter Embossing Powder over the top half of the panel and dump off excess. Next, Pour Ranger Marigold Embossing Powder over the bottom half and over any spots you may have missed with the Love Letter powder. Dump off excess and heat the embossed panel until powder is melted. Once dry, cut panel down to a 2” x 5 ¼” strip. Then cut the second strip to 2” x 4 ¾”. Cut two Strips from Tim Holtz Black Heavystock to 2 1/8” x 5 1/2” and a second strip to 2 1/8” x 4 7/8” to mat the embossed panels on.
Step 4: Stamp sentiments from the Simon Hurley Create. Silly Goose Stamp Set using Ranger Graphite Archival Ink. Trim them down and cut a piece of Black Heavystock slightly bigger to mat each of them.
Step 5: Stamp two of the duck images and party hat images from the Silly Goose set using Graphite Archival ink. Die cut them using the coordinating Silly Goose Dies.
Step 6: Using a Ranger Emboss It Pen, color in the pompom on the party hats. Dip in the Ranger Cottontail Embossing Powder. Using the Ranger Handle It tool to hold them, heat the pompoms until the embossing powder poofs. Take care not to over heat them.
Step 7: Ink smoosh Simon Hurley create. Dye Inks: Guppy, Bee Sting, Woof! and Minty Fresh on the Ranger Silicone Mat. Use water and a Ranger Brush to paint the images with the smooshed inks. Paint in the flames of the candles on the background with Guppy ink. Finally, assemble the cards using Letter It Foam Tape and Perfect Card Adhesive. I used the Flappy Birthday sentiment to cover the part of the embossed panel that I missed a small spot of ink.
