Instructions

Hi everyone, Bobbi here. I’m so happy to be with you on the Ranger blog today! I just love all the beautiful flowers and colors of summertime. Today I thought I would share a bright happy card tutorial with you, featuring Distress Crayons and Ranger Foil.

Step 1: To start with, cut 2 pieces of Tim Holtz Mixed Media Heavystock 4 1/2 x 6 and another Tim Holtz Mixed Media Heavystock 1 1/4 x 3. Die cut the Tim Holtz Sizzix Paper Cut Bird image from the Heavystock.

Step 2: Paint a thin layer of Dina Wakley Media White Gesso onto all three Heavystock pieces. Then dry with the Heat It Tool. This is going to give a sealed surface to apply all those great Distress Crayons.

Step 3: Gather the Tim Holtz Distress Crayons. The colors I choose were Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon and Mustard Seed. Apply some Twisted Citron to the Non-Stick Craft Sheet. Pick up color with your finger and smudge onto desired area of cutout. To intensify color, apply directly to image and smudge with finger.

Step 4: Continue to apply selected colors to various sections of cutout, smudging colors with finger.

Step 5: Using Gathered Twigs Distress Crayon, apply color to Non-Stick Craft Sheet. Pick up color with finger and smudge onto branches. If you feel there is too much color in one area, just wipe off with towel.

Step 6: It’s also really great for shading other areas to add depth.

Step 7: Using Pumice Stone Distress Crayon, apply to other two gessoed Mixed Media Heavystock. Then smudge crayon with finger, to create a very subtle background.

Step 8: Select the gold foil sheet from the Vintage Foil Sheet package. Apply a little Collage Glue to various areas of colored cutout. Working quickly, lay dull side of gold foil sheet to collage glued area. Press foil with fingers then lift off of image. Small areas of gold foil will stick to image. Repeat till happy with coverage..

Step 9: Apply Collage Glue Stick to outer edge of colored card front. Working quickly, lay dull side of gold foil sheet to collage glued area. Press foil with fingers then lift off card front. Small areas of gold foil will stick to card front. Repeat till happy with coverage to create a foiled edge.

Step 10: Using Jet Black Archival Ink, stamp “hello friend” from the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Crazy Talk Stamp Set onto the gessoed Heavystock strip. Dry with Heat It Tool. Cut small banner from stamped sentiment and black Tim Holtz Classic Kraft Cardstock.

Step 11: Cut some small squares from Black Adhesive Foam using Tim Holtz Kushgrip Snips. Adhere to stamped banner. Tie a small bow to end of banner with Tim Holtz Eclectic Elements Craft Thread to create a cute accent.

Step 12: Adhere cutout to background using Glossy Accents.
The detail nozzle is perfect for the thin lines of the cutout. Cut a piece of black Tim Holtz Classic Kraft Cardstock 9 1/2 x 6 1/4. Working on a scrap piece of paper, use sanding grip on black cardstock to expose the kraft. Fold in half 4 3/4 x 6 1/4 to create card base. Attach card front and banner with Glossy Accents to card base.

I love the combination of bright fun colors with the gold foil, just reminds me of summer. Thank you so much for joining me today!
