Peek-A-Boo Dylusions Tag Card by Kristi Nazarro

Add a bit of joy (and color) to someone's day with this creative card tutorial by Kristi Nazzaro! In this tutorial, Kristi shares how she transforms a large Dylusions tag into a clever peekaboo card featuring the latest additions in the Dylusions product line while incorporating her own signature style.

Instructions
I am crazy for a handmade card.  The latest Dylusions release was the perfect incentive to make a peekaboo card.  Much of my art is made with tags so instead of using cardstock, I decided to make a card out of one of the #12 sized mixed media journaling tags.

Peek A Boo Tag Step 1

Step 1: Before I began working on the tag, I decided to use up a few scraps of fabric I had left from another project.  To begin, stamp one of the images from the Crown of Roses set randomly onto scrap fabric with Archival Ink in Jet Black.

Step 2: Use your sprays in a box to keep the mess to a minimum.  Alternate between Pink Flamingo and Blue Lagoon Ink Spray ensuring that the entire piece of fabric is saturated.  Set the fabric aside and allow it to dry completely.

Step 3: Add Periwinkle Blue and Calypso Teal paint onto the Craft Sheet.  Spritz a little bit of water on both colors and alternately blend the colors onto the tag in a circular motion using a Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool. Cover both sides of the tag with both colors.

Step 4:
While the tag is drying, use a Mini Ink Blending Tool with the Boulders Stencil on a piece of scrap cardstock.  Once the “Boulders” dry,  cut one of the larger ones out for your card. Keep the rest for future projects.

Step 5: Fold the tag in half and use the face image from the Crown of Roses stamp set to stamp an image using Jet Black Archival Ink on the inside of the card. I am not a precise artist so it doesn't concern me that the top of her deer hat was a little cut off

Step 6: Roughly estimate where the girl’s eyes should go on the front cover. No need to measure. Just approximate where her eyes would be and use a pencil to lightly draw the rectangle.  Then I place a stamping block under the front of the card and cut the rectangle out using the craft knife and the journaling block as a guide.

Step 7: Use a Mini Ink Blending Tool to stencil the front of the card with the Large Grid stencil in Funky Fuchsia.  Let dry.  Use the Circles Stencil and Periwinkle Delusions Paint to add circles to the inside of the tag including around the stamped image of the girl. Stamp the “I’m a rainbow sprinkle in a vanilla world” sentiment onto a piece of scrap sticky back canvas using Jet Black Archival Ink. Adhere sentiment to the inside of the tag.

Step 8: Use a Dylusions White Linen Paint Pen to hand draw dots and lines around the stenciled shapes on the front, back and inside of the card.  Add some marks with a paintbrush and Black Marble Paint.  Finish the card off with some spatters of White Linen Paint.

Step 9:
Remember the spray dyed scrap fabric?  Tear that up and stitch a few pieces over the tag hole on the edge.  Then sew the large boulder up top and stitch all the way around the card.

Voila – finished!  I’m going to send this little peek a boo card out as some happy mail!
